PRESENTING YOUR DATA

ORAL PRESENTATIONS

Please submit your presentation on a USB-Stick in PDF or MS Office format to the technician in the lecture hall at the latest in the break 2 hours before your session. . Short Talks are planned to be 12 minutes talk and 3 minutes discussion. Science Flash Talks are a mixed format with a short oral presentation and a poster Science flashes are planned to be 5 minutes talk and the discussion will take place at the poster during the respective poster session.

POSTERS

There will be two poster sessions: I (Tue) & II (Wed & Thu). Further details regarding poster sizes will be announced here in due time.

Outline of steps to do for participants:

  1. Register in the online registration system. At this step your personal data will be requested. You will receive a registration confirmation e-mail with login instructions after your registration is completed. The further steps will require you to login to the registration system (login box at the right of the top navigation menu).
  2. Pay any open registration fee and book & pay optional workshops and social events in the registration system (optional events can also be booked and paid later until the deadline of the event).
  3. (Optional) Submit your Scientific Abstract for your session of interest in the registration system. This step requires prior payment of any open registration fees (see step2).
  4. (Optional for eligible partcipants) Submit an application for a FEMS ECR Grant in the registration system. This step requires prior payment of any open registration fees (see step 2) and the submission of an abstract as first author (see step 3).

REGISTER ONLINE

Following completion of your online registration you will receive a confirmation e-mail including your login data for the further steps such as registration fee payment, abstract submission, and grant applications.

Please note that your registration & abstract submission is only valid after payment of any open registration fees.

Important Dates and Deadlines:

  • Opening of registration and abstract submission - Beginning of December 2023
  • Deadline for abstract submissions eligible for oral presentations - extended until March 14, 2024
  • The application for a FEMS ECR Grant must be submitted in the registration system until March 14, 2024
  • Deadline early registration with reduced fees - March 14, 2024*
  • Notification of acceptance for oral or poster presentation - March 28, 2024
  • Notification on FEMS ECR Grant application status - April 11, 2024
  • Deadline for "late breaking poster" abstract submissions - April 11, 2024
  • Deadline late registration fee payment and closure of online registration - May 6, 2024**

* If full payment has not been received until March 14, 2024, the late fee will automatically be applied.
** After the closure of the online registration only onsite registrations are possible and an additional onsite handling fee will be charged.

For ÖGMBT members with an active and paid membership a member discount voucher code with a EUR 30 discount on the registration fee is available after login at the ÖGMBT website and can be entered during the payment process.

REFUNDS & CANCELLATIONS

All cancellation and refund requests must be sent to the conference office at office@foodsystemsmicrobiomes.org.

The following cancellation terms apply to registration fees:

  • until March 14, 2024: 80% reimbursement
  • until April 11, 2024: 50% reimbursement
  • after April 11, 2024: no refund, however substitutions of attendees can be made.

Payments for social events or satellites are not eligible for any refunds. Some social events and satellites will only be held if a minimum number of participants are reached. Cancelled social events and satellites will be refunded with a 5% handling fee.

PAYMENT

All payments are made via the online registration system (login box at the right of the top navigation menu) and can be made at the end of the registration process. Please note that payment of registration fees is required before abstract submission!

Registration will only be valid upon receipt of the full payment according to the deadline indicated. A letter of invitation can only be issued upon request after the registration fee has been paid.

Conference Attendance Grants (FEMS ECS Grant)

FEMSThis meeting is selected by the Federation of European Microbiological Societies (FEMS) to offer grants for congress participation for Early Career Scientists*.

Eligibility

To apply for this grant, you would need to meet following requirements:

  • be a member of a FEMS Member Society* or be recommended by such a member
  • be an Early Career Scientist**
  • be an Active Microbiologist 
  • be presenting author at the meeting (oral or poster)

* Find out if your society is a FEMS Member at https://fems-microbiology.org/member-societies/ 
** These are active microbiologists who obtained the highest academic degree - Bachelor, Master or PhD - less than five years prior to the application deadline date, or are a Master or PhD student. Periods of maternity/paternity leave, special leave or illness do not count toward this definition.

Application process

To be able to apply for the grant the registration fee must first be paid in full and an abstract must be submitted. The application for a FEMS ECR Grant is available in the registration system. A maximum of up to 500 EUR will be granted to successful applicants to assist with travel and accommodation (Registration fees are not included). Successful applicants will be reimbursed after attending the meeting.

Deadlines

The application for a FEMS ECS Grant must submitted in the registration system until March 14, 2024. The decision about the awarding of a grant will be communicated on April 11, 2024.

ABSTRACT SUBMISSION

After completion of your registration you can login to the online registration system (login box at top right of the top navigation menu) with the instructions from your registration confirmation e-mail and submit an abstract for the symposium. All abstracts must be submitted using the online registration system and require payment of the registration fee before submission. Submitted abstracts will be considered for either poster or oral presentation (short talk or science flash) by the scientific committee and all participants will be automatically notified via e-mail on April 19 of the acceptance of their abstract and type of presentation. The acceptance and selection status of your abstract is also available via the registration system.

Please prepare an abstract consisting of a title (250 characters max.), up to 14 authors and an abstract body (2500 characters max.) . In the online editor you may use simple formatting elements such as bold, italic, underline, super & subscript and special characters in both the title and abstract.
