With great pleasure we announced the first Food System Microbiomes 2024 International Conference! This new conference aims to address microbiomes across the food system and increase awareness of this topic across different stakeholder groups.
There is increasing interest in the food system’s microbiomes. Microbiomes are highly important to achieve sustainable primary production, increase food quality and safety, and maintain food production. Ultimately, they are of key relevance for human and animal health. In this conference, we will discuss the role of the food system’s microbiomes in burning issues like the fertiliser crisis, animal welfare, antibiotic resistance, food quality, circularity and dietary transition. We will showcase the latest findings, address important aspects for innovations and identify knowledge gaps to be further addressed.
The distinguishing feature of the Food System Microbiomes International Conference is highlighted in the name. The conference aims to become a platform that will support the inception of a systems approach, enabling the leverage of microbiome functions.
